I decided to get myself a small day bag. this one from Tenba had good reviews, so I bought one off Amazon. Got it next day delivery which was cool.
Its a mini case, but I got a lot of stuff into it! Lots more than I'd need on a day out.

3 more lenses: Nikkor Micro 40mm 2.8G, Nikkor 35mm 1.8G, Nikkor 18-55mm 3.5-5.6G II.

this lot weighed in at a total 13.8lbs(6.25kg) or 10.1lbs(4.60kg) without the Macbook Air. I'd carry the iPad but only one extra lens, not three.
