My trinity :

Sigma 50mm f1.4 ART
Nikon 135mm f2.0 DC
Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VRII

Seems a bit different than everyone elses...but that's all that's ever in my bag! :)

At the moment, with my D750:

Nikon 35mm f/1.8 G ED (FX)
Nikon 85mm f/1.8 G
Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3

In my last Nikon incarnation on a D3S it was:

Sigma 35mm f/1.4
Nikon 85mm f/1.4 D
Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 VC

I have a 18-140mm on the way to use as a general walkaround lens on my D7100.
Tokina 11-16mm for Aurora photography and landscapes
Nikon 70-300mm VR for wildlife and bird photography :D

I met a beginner with a Samyang 14mm this weekend who was getting frustrated with it. But she was trying it in very challenging conditions.

During the daytime the lens is fine to work with, especially because Nikons have the aperture control other brands lack but during the night, she makes life hard. At least in the conditions I'm mostly shooting. The 24mm f/1.4 enables me to see what I'm doing on the LCD while the f/2.8 of the 14mm turns the scene into pointillist art.

Although for most people getting a D7100 I would reccommend a Nikon 12-24mm f4 the 16-85mm VR and 70-300mm VR as the DX Trinity.
16-85mm is slightly better optically, although I am very happy for the switch I made because for my purposes for how I will use it the 18-140mm was better.
