This is a series for those who enjoy historical figures. For those of you that are non-Americans, William McKinley was the 25th President of the US and he was assassinated in 1901. He was born in Ohio, near Canton, and he is buried there in the McKinley Memorial. The 150 or so steps were not fun. After I reached the top, I realized there was a parking lot in back of the memorial.

Yesterday's trip to Canton (1hr 5min according to Nuvi) had been greatly anticipated. Once I arrived at the McKinley Memorial, I was a bit disappointed. The building, inside and out, was kind of boring. But, I did what I could. When I was finished with the Memorial, I checked my cellphone for other "points of interest" in the area. Don't you just love technology. So, I sat in my car and searched the web. After all, I did spend over an hour getting here.

Canton is a nice town, but there aren't many attractions. I did find one of interest. The old Palace Theater. I think every city had/has a Palace Theater. Canton's Palace Theater has been kept up and restored. Good citizens. I was able to get some shots of the exterior. I'll be the inside is really something.

Ted did you do a "Rocky" when you got to the top of the steps, the name McKinley has a Scottish ring to it?

Roy, I was happy to still be breathing when I got to the top. It gets worse....

Halfway up, I had a very strong (and I mean very strong) urge to use the restroom. It must have been Sunday's Mother's Day dinner.

Well, I stood there and looked up at the top, and then down at the bottom. Since the top was my intended goal, I decide to proceed up, rather than having to do it all over again. Yep, I went to college.

As I said earlier, there were two surprises at the top..... a parking lot I could have driven to, and worse yet, no restrooms.

I ran over 14 children as I stumbled down the stairs to the welcome center. There's a moral to this story, somewhere.
