Anyone have any experience with this lens?

In a week or two I will be ordering a D7000 and have been wracking my brain doing research for a walk-around lens and this has good reviews, have looked at so many the last few days my brain hurts.

Also looked at the;
Nikon 16-85 and 18-105 Kit
Sigma 17-50 and 17-70

I primarily do landscapes but I have a Tokina 12-24 that takes care of the bulk of that.

I'll be doing family events, snaps during hiking, backpacking, kayaking and biking so need a light, sharp all-purpose lens.

Much thanks

From what I understand it is a pretty nice lens. I have the 16-85 Nikkor which I like. It has a more reach, but not the speed of that Tamron.

I have both the Nikon 18-65 and the Sigma 17-50 and you can't go wrong with either. I use the 17-50 when light is low and the 16-85 when light is strong.

I was reading Nikon expert Thom Hogan's new site yesterday and found this page:

Check out the lenses he uses with the D7100

Update:

Well I chickened out on the Tamron and instead ordered a used 16-85 from Cameta.

Reason:
Greater reach
The f/2.8 didn't really matter that much as I won't be using it much in low light without a tripod.
and most important it's sealed which is important as it will be carried in my backpack and day pack a lot.
VC was somewhat of an issue as I'm getting older my camera seems to shake more. :) (Couldn't be me?)

That's all for your great advice as always!
