Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 vs Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8?

I'm looking for some of your expert advice between the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 vs Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 (both with the image stabilization). I shoot with a D750. As all of you know, the cost difference is huge. I can buy the Tamron AND a wide angle lens for the cost of the Nikon. I am looking to hear is there really a performance difference that warrants the Nikon over the Tamron? I don't have a large budget, but I do not want to sacrifice image quality just to save money. I'm willing to pay the extra cost to ensure sharp images from the lens.

LOL... I know we just got done "talking" about the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 in another thread, but did I mention I also own the Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD?

So you see where I'm stuck at what to do. Maybe it is just a personal choice as I have read so many reviews, with no clear answer. Split decision from all I have read.

I have used the Tamron 24-70 with my D810 for the last 18 months and the image quality is superb.
Don't have any experience with the new Nikon but I doubt you would see any difference.

The Nikon version is an excellent lens.

The Tamron version is excellent, several hundred dollars less to begin with with, has a $200 rebate offer going on right now and it comes with Tamron's six-year warranty (vs. Nikon's one year warranty).

After researching the 24-70mm Tamron and Nikon, I went with the Tamron. They are both great but when you consider quality, price and warranty it was an easy decision for me and I am very happy with the Tamron.

Thanks everyone for taking your time to respond! I think I will go with the Tamron and that way with the lower cost ($200 rebate) I can also get a wide angle lens.

I have the Tammy one - less expensive but certainly not a cheap lense by any means. I have no complaints.

It replaced a Nikon one. The Nikon was an older model I had bought used, but the autofocus stopped working on it.

Both are great lenses - is the Nikon worth that much more - I didn't think so when I went for the Tammy and I have not regretted the choice.

I have the nikon 28-70 2.8 and if that lens would give up the ghost id either get another used one or the tamron with no hesitation. I hardly shoot my 2.8 zooms at 2.8. usually at 3.5 and onward and from f/4 you wont see a difference. the nikon 24-70 is the superior lens but the price jump to what you really get compared between the two is ridiculous.

its like buying the 85 1.4g over the 85 1.8g which is a $1200+ price jump for 2/3 stop. and I shoot people between 2.8-4.5 so I wouldnt benefit from shooting so wide open. and just cause you have a 1.4 aperture it doesnt mean you need to shoot it open. its been done to death and the look is not great for portraits. 2.8 is fine for proper image with minimum focus.

get the tamron 15-30VC. its been reviewed by many that it bests the legendary 14-24 AFS

Well, you talked me in to it. I ordered the Tamron 24-70/2.8

I was hoping for the Tokina to have vibration reduction, but alas, it doesn't. I've been researching and going back and forth on the need for VC/VR and I've decided I need it.

The reviews for the Tamaron are excellent and this will be my first Tamaron lens.

I'm looking forward to getting this lens and using it.

I have the Nikon 24-70mm and never tried the Tamron. I don't mind putting the dollars out front because it will hold the resale and you have the quality. Just my 2 cents.

I'm sorry for the late response....... BUY IT. I am greatly impressed. It is a joy to use and the results are excellent. A 24-70 is a mainstay lens and it's one that you'll always want in your kit. There's no reason to consider resale. If you sold it, you'd miss it and just have to buy another one. With it out-performing the NIKON at such a discounted price, I don't know why anyone wouldn't choose the Tamron.
