Tamron 24-70 VC

Well, I have this $1000 dollar credit I got from adorama and I am torn on what to do with it.

I've always used primes. The credit was from my returned sigma 35 1.4. It had some serious focus issues. My problem is that I would much rather have a zoom. The issue is I know I will compare the image quality of that sigma 35 to the tamron because when the focus did land the optics were outstanding.....

So my question is has anyone happened to try or own both?

I currently own the 50 1.8g and 85 1.8g the d600 kit lens and 70-300.

My thinking was the sigma 35 and Nikkor 85 and I got a very nice little 2 punch. But then I use my tamron 70-300 with amazing VC and wonder how good it might actually be on a 24-70....

Thoughts?

yes I pretty much read through all 10 pages. All of the image looks very promising. I just fear that after using the Sigma I would be disappointed and the IQ/sharpness. I am hoping to find someone who has used those.

You will be disappointed, no doubt about it. Prime vs. zoom, you already no the answer! Compare two zooms and you might be pleased :)

Dissapointed????

I was hoping you would say it is noticeable but so insignificant it would be irrelevant in real life shooting.

I just want that 35 mil range and now that I tasted the sigma I want that quality but hate trying another copy to risk the issues again...

Grrrrr

I have the Tamron 24-70 F2.8 and like it but I would like to mention that it does use 82mm filters if that makes a difference to you.

You can't compare a zoom to a prime, that's what I meant. Good primes are always sharper. The Tamron is an excellent zoom.

I know I know :-( Everything has to be a weighed against itself based on my current shooting needs! And I need something sub 50. That focal length bores me. Anything 50 + andbim switching to my 85. So basically I am judging the vc/zoom from 24-50 compared to the optics of a 35 prime.... Hate!!!!!

Why couldn't I just win the lottery or choose a different hobby.....
