Anyone here have the Tamron 24-70VC lens? Any issues? Or would you recommend the Nikon 24-70 2.8? Have to wonder if Nikon will coming out with a VR lens in this range, but who knows.

Thanks,
Jim

I don't have the Tamron version but I do have the Nikon 24-70mm f2.8. I don't think that the lens will be updated anytime soon but even if it does, it is something that people will end up paying a little more for that added feature. The Nikon 24-85mm and 24-120mm f4 are the other Nikon alternative choice if you prefer having a lens with VR for medium zoom lenses.

I have the Tamron and love it, focuses a tad sower than the Nikon. Very sharp but does show vignetting at 70 mm/2.8 . It gets high marks from DXO and DPreview. I'm in my mid 60's and the VC sure helps my aging hands.

I've been looking at this lens as a holdover until Niokon comes out with a new 24-70 vr. The price puts it too close to the existing nikon when I figure I will have to spend $250 for a set of 82mm CP and ND filters. I already have the 77mm set the Nikon would need. If they come out with an instant rebate, I'll re-consider.

Yes, nice review. I wish they had reviewed the Nikon so we could use their comparison tool on it. It does stack up well against the Canon. Which is interesting about 3rd party lenses, sometimes you can read a lot about them on a Canon mount before the Nikon version comes out.
