Why aren't you using it on your D600?

Because no one makes a zoom that goes to 900mm. Because I can afford both a D600 and a D7100, but understand that not everyone can as well. Because maybe there are those who want/use/need 150-600mm on an FX body.

Blanket statements like this can cause more harm than good. I certainly wouldn't put this lens on a D40 for shooting sports or wildlife.

Now, please answer my question.

Why is using an FX body with an FX lens a crippling insanity?

That is not what I said. Don't put words in my mouth!

Don't cripple the 150-600 with an FX camera. Insanity!::what::

Notice how I didn't say, "Don't cripple an FX lens by putting it on an FX body".

Ok. Now lets revisit the original post by the OP, in case you have conveniently forgotten it already.

In a couple of days my Tamron 150-600 will arrive and I really need your advise on what body I should buy (for wildlife - birds mainly, sometimes foxes, wild boars, e.t.c.).
I don't think I can save enough money to buy d810, so I have to choose between D610 or D7100.

Notice how the OP can afford only one camera. Either a 610 or a 7100.
Also please take note, that the OP has already bought a Tamzooka to shoot wildlife, mainly birds sometimes foxes and even wild boar.

For this situation I would strongly advise the OP to get a DX body and not cripple the 15-600mm Tamzooka with an FX camera.

Do tell!

I certainly wouldn't put this lens on a D40 for shooting sports or wildlife.

Still looking for the quote where I even suggested this.

He may want to switch to an Fx body when the wild boar begins to charge :). That way he can get the up close pre-impact action shot!

...........Notice how the OP can afford only one camera. Either a 610 or a 7100..........

Then given that one sole constraint, I'd put it on a D610.

But, according to you, that's insane.

Still looking for the quote where I even suggested this.

Well, let's refer to your previous statement........

That is not what I said. Don't put words in my mouth!....

I never said you did suggest that. But, the D40 IS a DX camera, isn't it?

If you wanna just beat around the bush and try to use circular logic, go right ahead. I'm punching out.

You know, I'm done replying to you and trying to have a normal conversation with you any more. Except for a couple of other posters, I have no problems carrying on a conversation with anyone else.

You just seem to want to argue and nitpick every little thing someone ever says, and worse yet, you do it in a seemingly condescending way. Don't know if you do it on purpose, or just don't even know that you're doing it, but I really don't care.

SeeYa!
