Hi Folks, a few years back I'd never imagin ever being on a Nikon forum...such a Canon fan boy that I was....but sold the 1DMK4 and lenses and just ordered a D800E with 24-70mm and 70-200mm....

Super excited, can't wait to see just how sharp the images are, and with an upcoming wedding, I have time to get used to the layout of the Nikon....

Any tips welcome....

Welcome to Nikonites then. I guess you'll probably have to get used to the controls layout, but I'm certain you'll enjoy your Nikon.

Welcome and what prompted the change. Anyone being honest has to acknowledge both are great brands, but what caused you to make such a huge move.

He's seen the light, ladies and gentlemen! He's seen the light!! ;) Hey...congrats on the new Nikon gear. :) I just know you're going to enjoy the wonderful world of Nikon, once you get used to the easier-than-Canon layout of all the buttons and dials. :) Have fun and enjoy. :)

It's always a cat and mouse chase between the major brands, I just feel Nikon work harder than Canon....Canon get to a point, Nikon then wisely sit back, examine, then come out with something more attractive...5D Mark3....sure it's awesome, as was the original 5D which I had before the 1DMK4........but I am a purest, so the stripped D800E appeals to me, shoot in raw, massive file, good post processing = best shot. Simples.

Welcome to Nikonites! I think you will love the choice of glass, I have those two lenses and they still blow me away, the IQ is amazing, now complete the trilogy and get the 14-24 and you are all set!
