Just a few things that jump out at me, I would like less black at the base as I think its not needed. Also if you had the chance to wait a bit longer for the sun to go down below the horizon it may have resulted in a much more dramatic sunset.
sky is nice, but like was stated, broadening the story beyound the sky is the challenge in sunset pictures, whether it is the lone farmhouse, fields of pumpkins, or whatever to pull the whole image into the frame, and broaden the viewer's interest.
some people use graduated filters so that foreground can show up,,, another trick is to use bracketing, of course,, sometimes,, you just want to capture the sky for a memory and to have
fun.
Here is a quick edit of the low res jpeg file. The sky is the subject so we need less foreground. Unless of course there is some interest in the foreground aswell.
Therefore I just need to carefully crop the photo because my subject on his picture is the dark clouds with the sunset. That time there was no particular foreground to include in the shot so i focused on the sky instead.
The foreground is essentially featureless, I would crop most of it out. Also, and this may just be personal preference, but when you place your name on an image you should place it in such a place that it does not really intrude on the image. In the upper right corner it draws your eyes to it because our eyes are naturally drawn to writing (don't know why). I personally prefer the lower left (or right if the left corner makes it hard to read) corner and just large enough that it can still be read. This is what I am talking about.
