I took this photo this afternoon of our Boxer Sugar playing in the yard. I just got my camera yesterday and I KNOW i have a lot to learn, so i was just playing around with it. What do you think of the photo? what could i do to make the picture better? I wish she would look at me, but when I have a camera in my hand she tends to run away from me :) Still a puppy, not yet one and she is quite hyper :) the kids distracted her for a moment so i snapped the picture...just in Auto mode. edited in Photoshop....played with the contrast before changing the saturation.

Any criticism is welcome!!! Glad to have found this forum!!!

Ahhh, cute pup! We're a boxer family, too. I've heard many of the white boxers tend to be deaf, is your little girl deaf, by chance?

As for the photo the only thing that I think could make it better is to include her eyes next time. Portraits are much stronger when you can see the eyes of the subject. Typically when people first look at another, be it dog or human or...?, they first look to the eyes before looking anywhere else. That said, it's a great photo as is, IMO.

Thank You!!! We picked her out without knowing anything about white boxers. i went and met her at six weeks, fell in love, put a deposit down, and came home to my good friend google. then i got nervous after my research, as they don't go deaf until about 8 weeks (when we would be picking her up). we didn't know if she would be deaf or not, turns out she is not....and she's a wonderful doggie :) couldn't be happier with her!!!

she doesn't like the camera!!! my intentions were to get her eyes, but it just didn't happen!! Thank you for your advice!!!

Boxers are amazing dogs, can't imagine I'd ever want another breed after having had one. Here's my little girl and my not-so-little son

Thanks! And you're absolutely right! Boxers are great watch dogs and ideal family dogs. Here's a video of a boxer and a baby that really sums up how excellent these dogs are around kids.
