Ye Olde Starr Inn - York's oldest, and apparently very haunted public house. Serving ale since 1644, and was used as a makeshift hospital when the roundheads invaded York as they tried to overthrow the King in the 10th century.

Tourist ghost walks... One day I will go on one, as a kind of guided photowalk!

Both great. The colorversion has something mystical, and looks perfect. It can be a postcard

Thanks Michael - I'm hoping they get the Christmas decorations up here soon. This square is where the City's main Christmas tree is put up and there are normally brass bands playing Christmas hymns to the shoppers.

The Gild Hall - I'm actually allowed in here as I am a Freeman of the city of York due to a relative a LONG time ago creating apprenticeships in the gilded trades. Origins of the Freemen

Finally, one of the funniest bits of street theatre I have ever seen......
The Moaning Lisa - This guy stands at the top of the Shambles, where the tourists are, and they pay him to moan.... He moans about anything and is VERY funny... He even playfully insults people if they want ;)

After he insulted this lady's hair, she got her own back...

Last night the lights were switched on in one of the market squares in York, accompanied by the University of York Brass Band. Here's a few shots of the band playing traditional carols.

There are more, but I'm still processing them. These were a subset of the shots which I sent off to the local press.

lol I'm still processing them Chris - I tried renting a Sigma, as that is most likely which I would buy but they weren't available.... But while we were out, the wife just said "If that one is better, then just get one of them - It'll last you longer too!"

So after Christmas sometime, I have been TOLD to get one!

Want to trade wives for a few months? Mine just told me in no uncertain terms NOT to buy the lens I wanted.....so I'll have to wait....but it's getting colder here so I will wait until spring or later and then we'll see. I wasn't going to get much of a discount anyway on the lens. It was a 16-35 Zeiss for my Sony. It'll still be there when I need it. Right now it's a want!
