Standing in the Rain

But the concept and effort should be commanded.

I agree, and I hope that came through in my post.

I always hate replying to threads like these. You guys (at least you old timers who have been around here for awhile) know that I'm going to say exactly what I really think. Often times I feel like I'm stomping on someone's flowerbed around here when I reply to a thread that has a bunch of atta-boys already attached to it.

Delta - this photo is outside the box, and as I said earlier, kudos for that. That's the hardest part, the creativity. The rest of photography is just expensive accessories and standing in the right place at the right time. A little bit of reading up on backlighting and some practice, and next time, you'll nail it.

Wish i had godlike powers and move them off the picture with telekinesis, but i couldn't, this was quite an on-the-go sudden idea i wanted to try :)
So, the location wasn't perfect, but i used what i could, and it turned out pretty darn awesome
I knocked out a lot of distracting elements using Photoshop in about two minutes.

Your profile indicates edits are okay, but let me know if you want and I'll remove your shot from my post. This is an uber quick and dirty and working with a JPG didn't make it any easier but...

I like this cropped version. Objective is personal profile image (achieved) with dramatic effect. I find the other lights/sign/background distracting.

I like this cropped version.
Just to clarify: The image I posted was *not* cropped. I simply removed the street sign on the left side and the light fixtures and such on the right side. It was all done with quick and dirty selections (lasso tool), content-aware fill (with a pretty heavy feathering) and then some clone stamping of the rain drops to cover my tracks.

Voila!
