Here are some of my pictures from the day. Today was tech inspection. Tomorrow... records will start to fall I'm sure.

Lots of motorcyclist and motorcycle racers come out for the event.



Lots and lots of hot rods! Did I say there were a lot of them?

I can't resist shooting another Dodge Challenger.



It's suggested you bring a bicycle to scooter to ride because the distances are so great out there on the salt and hot. This man really put it all together. Transportation and a cool beverage anytime anywhere.

Nice shots. I see the appeal of the new Challenger when looking at other present day offerings, but give me that old 50's rust bucket any day. And the Mustang is beautiful (said the Ford guy). The dude in shorts and straw hat on the drag bike gave me a chuckle, and a pause of concern, as well.

August 10, 2013 - Race Day

The first day of racing. Closest track, lane one, is about one third of a mile away. These shots were at 300mm and using the 1.3 crop ability of the D7100 and then really cropped down.

The first FAST car of the day. Funny that "fast" is in excess of 400 mph.



Not too long after the top speed of the day, at least by 1330, was 443 mph.

Old school packed full of modern muscle and a blower.



A sweet support vehicle.

A "slow" streamliner.



Diesel muscle successfully chasing and catching a previous 202 mph record.

And the best capture of the day... 150+ mph spin out. Shifting gears on the salt can cause your whole world to go round and round.
