Well, I'd take this with a grain of salt. This was just a popularity vote and the difference is .5%... Maybe if they were to poll this again in two years we'd see a different result.
Camera choice is such a personal issue, just like a car, many brands to please different customers.
And after a while chasing the "Best" camera, one has to learn to be happy with what one has. After all, the best camera is the one you have in your hands when the shot opportunity happens.

I agree with much of what you said, however, it shows that the masses are gearing up in Sony's favor. Sony has come a long way to even be mentioned as a finalist, and yet they won this title. Sony keeps on making inroads and with the A9 Pro line coming out, I think it will be surprising Canon and Nikon shooters again!
Oh I know they are gaining ground, but if you look at the number of sold units, I think Nikon and Canon are still very much ahead. Don't forget that for someone like me who has about 12 Nikon lenses, the switch to another brand is not very attractive for now anyway. But one thing I know is that one should never say never.

I take exception to the idea there is a "Best Camera"; that's like saying there's a "Best Car".

Best this, and best that is generated by dollars. Everyone knows that, or they should.
All the boasting is tongue-in-cheek. No one should get butt-hurt because some small group of critics picked any particular product.
Next year it will be an entirely different brand. This way everybody gets to think they spent their hard earned dollars correctly.

Everyone forgets that this is not a poll of writers or techies. This award was selected by registered members of DP Review. The only money issue is that the majority of the Respondents voted with their wallets.
Well, if they they don't have an 'ites forum as good as this one, I'll just stick with my Nikon thanksIf they do its obviously not as good as Nikonites

Its good a Sony is best, I am sending my phone in again for a cracked screen (Sony Xperia Z1) and before that all its internals were replaced due to moisture getting in. Not sure I would buy a Sony camera to replace my NIKONS.
I just read the specs, and it looks like a great camera at a very inviting price. I can see why it's popular. There are a whole new group of photographers who like the mirrors, electronic viewfinder style cameras. I still prefer the optical viewfinder, and I don't like little, tiny cameras very much, I would rather have more bulk in my hards.
I know I'm a dinosaur, and I try not to be one of those guys who references "the good old days" too often, but so far I'm still in the SLR camp. If I had voted, I probably would have cast my vote for the D810, which I think is the best camera anyone is producing anywhere at this point.
