Smartphone apps

I was wondering if anyone is using any iphone/andriod apps while shooting? I have used one called "100 model poses" that has come in handy. Posing people is not my strongpoint.

This one was free, but what are you using? Was it free or how much?

I have on my Android

Camera FV-5 $3.91
beeCam LightMeter free (For what it's worth)
B&H Photo App free
NikonLenses free
Tamron Lenses free
100 model poses (Yup, that's not my strong point either)

I just wish Sigma would make an app!

I think that light metering app is going to be dependent on how accurate the actual sensor in your phone is. I can't seem to find any information on what type of sensor my phone has! I haven't really looked that hard either. Seems to work ok. It's no Gossen though.

I think the light meter app would be more useful for getting light levels where you want them. Example Key, fill and back and getting ratios correct. Not so much for the actual shooting. Probably would give you a good starting point. I have a light meter app and that is how I have used it.

I do a lot of "iPhoneography", but don't really use any apps to complement or coordinate the work I do with my DSLR. I find that the camera (D7000) has more effective tools for metering and composition than the phone, so why not use what you paid for? The one thing that intrigued me was using the iPhone as a remote, but then I learned that it's WAY more work and far more restrictive (the camera needs to be computer or wifi connected) than simply carrying around the little wireless remote.

That said, I think there are some great iPhone apps for photography. Snapseed is the best editor I've found, and I use Camera+ in place of the default camera app as it allows focus and exposure lock and manipulation, as well as low light image stabilization (i.e. it won't shoot until you're still) and some decent post-shot filtering. TrueHDR is the best of the HDR apps I've tried (and I've tried many), and DMD is one of the easiest and most effective panoramic apps available.
