Smaller Nikon flash units

Damn, Nikon speedlights really do hold their value :)

I'm shopping for a small flash to use with my compact camera. I was looking at deals on SB-300, SB-400 or even SB-500 (led light for video) to use. Bounce is a must have.

I recently (today) found out about the Nikon SB-N7 and have two questions;

1. Is that only able to mount on the V1 hot shoe or is it compatible with other compact/DSLR hotshoes?
2. Does it bounce? I am finding conflicting info online.

I found a Flashpoint TTL flash at Adorama for $46.00 that fits the bill, but no bounce.

Joe... The SB-N7 does in fact tilt, upward 120º for bounce.

It does not have a regular flash shoe, it has a Nikon 1 multi-port. Nikon sells an adaptor to attach regular flash to a multi-port camera, but I'm not sure about attaching the SB-N7 to a regular flash foot.

Joe,

I actually own the SB-400 and use it on my D7000 all the time. It is a nice little flash and works well for what I need it to do.

I recently saw one on Craigslist in the Minneapolis/St. Paul (where I am at) area for $50 but I haven't seen it since, so once in awhile you can stumble across a good deal on these.

The SB-N7 will only work with the Nikon 1 V series. The SB-400 is a great flash - especially for fill and for travel. I've used it on my D300 and D800.
