Simple stop motion software for father, son D5200 lego film

Have tried a couple of downloads 'stop motion animator' and 'monkeyjam' but file size even on basic jpeg size proving too much for them. Any cheap accessable alternatives that I should look into?

Perhaps not what you are looking for, but windows movie maker can do stop motion. You just dump your jpegs into a stream and you can speed up the play of the jpegs.
