Sigma Lens Compatibility Question

Hello. I am new to DSLR cameras. I have an opportunity to purchase a used Sigma 50-500mmF4-6.3 EX APO RF / RF HSM lens. (It is a few years old - discontinued). I am having trouble understanding if it is compatible with my D5100 Nikon. Can anyone advise me?

Not 100% sure, but a lot of the initial google results indicate it may have been a Canon fit??

If it is a Nikon fit, then the HSM means it will auto-focus on your D5100

Not sure if you're aware or not as a noob but manufacturers tend to make each model of lens in versions for Canon or Nikon (and others), the lens is the same, just the mounting and electronic interface differs. If the one you're looking at is a canon, there'll be a Nikon one somewhere waiting for you :).
