I just purchased a sigma 28-300 f3.5-5.6D AF IF lens off of craigslist for 65.00.
Anyone have this older lens? Thoughts? Its not the macro version.

I don't have any experience with that lens, but it sounds like you got a bargain at that price! Lol I'm really interested in hearing how well it works out once you get a chance to try it out though! :)

I don't have it, nor have used it, but for 60$... can it really not be good ? haha. Good find.
Not as good as the Nikon version which is in my wish list.. along with the 17-35 and 70-200 and 80-400.... but..
60.00 I had to see.
Other than it focuses kind of slow... and the zoom creep. It does put out some sharp images. Since I'm locked into the house with major ankle and heal injuries.. I can't really get out to test it. Maybe I can post a test photo of something inside here later LOL

Ok.. took a quick snap at 56mm auto iso 1600 1/40th sec F8 and run it through PSE 11 with my standard sharpening and resized for the web.

After playing around with this lens most of the afternoon... it seems to be an ok lens, sharp in the mid range, little soft in the corners. I could deal with that. What I did find out about this particular lens is that it is a dust bellows. That paired on my d600 is not going to be good LOL And it definitely won't replace my 24-85VR
For the price I paid.. putting it on an older camera would be best suited. I think I will more than likely put it back up for sale and hopefully cover most of my cost. It was a good experience though...
