Not a lot of Help but I have its big brother the 50-500 OS HSM I use it on a D800, its been on a D700 and D2x, it is an amazing lens all through its range, well made and really good results. Purely from a lens point of view Sigmas are really good.

I believe that the 150-500 is very similar to the 50-500 and it has an in built focus motor and should work with any Nikon camera, but I wasn't aware that there was a D2000 model?

From the reviews I have read, the old 170-500 is not a very good choice. Better to look at the 150-500, or the more expensive 50-500.

I am only going on what I have read, I have not used the above lenses. Though I did have a quick play with a friends 150-500 (on his Canon:(), he likes it a lot.

Thanks I was thinking the same , that the 150-500mm or the 50 -500mm would indeed be a better choice.

Bit cheaper 2nd hand if you get a good one @ half that price. It may be the one I get if the price is right.

There is a 120 -400mm which is supposed to be good as well , wont be as heavy as the monstrous 50 - 500 tho . Tamron 150 -600 is around £ 780.
