Shutter not working

All images are in perfect focus including the one that would not fire.

I have accidentally hit the shutter and shot the desk or the floor, or whatever, all being out of focus and the camera fired.

What should the exact settings be for the A1 and A2? Is there somewhere else to look as well? I just did a reset settings and it still won't fire.

I'd try a cable release or the secondary button on a battery grip, or a wireless remote. If there's an intervalometer you could try that too. If none of those trigger the shutter, that shutter be deceased.

It be pining for the fiords. It be an ex-shutter. It has gone, to meet, it's maker.

Thanks, but I had to send it off to Nikon. It was dead. Only 8404 clicks and it died. I haven't heard what the estimate is yet.

Just a thought...is the camera "in focus" when you try to release the shutter. Somewhere I remember you can set the shutter not to fire if the camera is not in focus.

Again, just a thought.
