Shutter count - STRANGE..!!

If it can be updated with every actuation, then it can be reset. Most of the information is usually maintained in an EEPROM (as in most devices that maintain the current state - microwave, TV, fridge etc), so if you have the right software you can write any thing. In all probability, most repair centres are not given the software to over write the EEPROM.

Makes sense, as in my D3300, the shutter opens once for live view, and then the second time to take the picture while in live view. I just checked my shutter count and it is around 61 more than the image serial number. It was 1 when the camera came.
