Ants are definitely not the easiest of creatures to photograph, especially for the amateur who does not have access to specialist equipment. Firstly, this chap is quite big for those we find where I live but is still only 4mm long. Secondly, they never seem to stay very long in one place. I was therefore quite happy to get this shot yesterday.
I suppose that, like most newcomers who are learning about their camera, I jump about from subject to subject and don't always take time to check the settings, for fear of missing the perfect shot.
What would others have done differently?
