Screen protector for D7000 - does anyone use them?

Question for those who have removed their MB-11 and replaced it with a screen cover - when you're done shooting and thinking of storing your camera for a few months can you replace the MB-11 without taking off the screen cover or do you have to remove the cover first?

I've only ever taken off my MB-11 to learn how to take it off and put it back on. It's never been off my camera since...and once it get's scratched up I'll just replace it for under $20 (cheap fix, where a damaged screen isn't)

:)

I've never seen a Nikon dslr without the plastic screen cover before. I think some people just figure it was meant to stay on all the time for protection. I'm going to go zagg and screen cover.

My GGS's for the D7000 arrived yesterday and the D800's screens should be here early next week. I'll report back my impressions after I get them on. My biggest worry is getting them on straight....

Are those the glass screen shields?

Yes, they are. Apparently they're a combination of 6 layers with the optical glass layer in the middle. Some of the layers are a polymer to keep the glass from shattering into pieces while others claim to reduce glare and absorb impacts. At least that's what it says on the back of the packaging, for what its worth...

This sounds very nice. I will look into these.

I put the screens on my D7000 yesterday and want to report how happy I am with them. Removing the MB-11 protector and putting the screen on is almost like getting a new camera. The LCD looks like a different beast altogether, color much more pronounced and far less glare. By in large, I only use the LCD for a quick check of the histograms but now w/o the horrible glare I'm sure I'll use it much more often. And something else I didn't consider is that the small B&W LCD monitor is now protected. All in all, I'm very pleased with the addition and am looking forward to seeing my D800 w/o the MB-11, it's the best $8 I've spent on my photography to-date

The protectors that came on my camera, stayed on my camera. It's marked already, and I only have the camera a few days; I'm glad they're on it and not on the screen :)
