Not sure how I fell so far behind on this thread but a great catch-up.
I was going to say that the Spoonbill was my favourite but then the lightning shots came up and that happy frog. Real hard to choose best one.
As for the catch light ... they all add something and I like them all.

Still working at it to capture a bug. Best I got was a beetle butt as it scurried away.
Haha yeah I get a few of those, the best today was I was about to take a photo of this small fruit fly and bang I get tackled by my BIG dog Tank. Lets just say that I didn't get the shot and he didn't get the neighbours dog only sidelined me lol

Think your edit has payed off, nice one
Thanks, that was on advice from a mate on FB who is a photographer. I think maybe next time I will bump up the back flash more. But what was suprising was that I was shooting at 1/8000th sec and it worked. Normally I get a black band from the mirror so am unsure what I have done differently. I am liking this experimenting and it can only improve if you ask me. Also the red flash was easy to quickly make up. What my main aim is is to try and get great results straight out of camera, and if I can do it on myself then I can do it with people ;)

Awesome! I'm so excited to try my new D800e using some of my favorite lenses! Thank you buddy! I like the first shot better, because it seems richer in colors and that gives it a good effect IMO! Lol :)
Yes so do I, I think if I redid it I would use a reflector on the right side to remove some of the shadows. but it is all experimenting :)
