Well I got approached by the manager of a hotel here in town and he would like to purchase some of my work for a display in his lobby, also they are willing to offer me display places in their gift shop (10% commission to them from sales) where I can display my wares. So now I am putting together some images to a rough value of $3000AUD for the first lot. I am also going to request the wall be painted and lighting to be installed to shine on the images and make them stand out.
If they only want 10% commission i would be very nice to them. Everywhere I have tried this they wanted 40% and that made it too high for me to make anything off of my sales.
Yes I have offered the images very close to cost price, here is the choice I have given them and depending on the number would dictate the cost. PS this is in a private password protected gallery on my website.

Yes I do understand that, if they are willing to put these on display all the time in their lobby I am happy to make a small profit as sales will come from the gift shop that I will have my images in. It is hard to sell large images that are framed etc as everyone visiting cannot spare the space, so I aim at selling smaller prints or metal images that can easily fit in a suitcase. The manage knows he has a limited budget and I have given him a rough cost of each image, there will be a small profit margin for me but I think the long term will more than pay any shortfall. The hotel it is going in is really the only hotel in town so it is great exposure.Scott, I don't know if these are but each of the places I have sold photos to wanted images that represented local scenes. I have sold photos in several places around town. Be careful about selling them too cheep. I was given some advice a long time ago when I started selling my work. I was told that "if I didn't think my work was worth very much that others would feel the same way".. A lot of times the value or worth of something is perceived by the price that is placed on it. I try and sell my work at a price the customer can afford and still make it worth my time and effort to do it.
