I am testing out a flat round diffuser, I have a flash on top and one below to light up nearly all around the subject.

After trialling the round diffuser compared with the original design diffuser I have gone back to the original as there was not enough difference to warrent the extra material and how much it impacts on everything when trying to get in close.

Yeah, it looked a bit cumbersome. For simplicity and ease of use, your original design is hard to beat, gives good results too.
