Saving for a lens. Help

Well after a lot of debating, reading reviews, watching youtube videos. talking with people who know one or the other or both, I decided to go for the Nikon. In fact I just ordered it. It should be here tomorrow. No sleep for me tonight. And every noise I hear tomorrow I will be looking to see if it is the UPS truck. Now it is time to start saving for a new body. My D300 is getting old. Thanks for all the help.

Congrats! I'll let you know if UPS accidentally delivers your lens to my house. :D

Congrats on the new lens. I've had mine since September and am still learning how to shoot action with this big boy. I've only used it about a half dozen times and while I can nail stationary subjects and race track action, my BIF and and shots of my dogs running leave much room for improvement. And I'm confident that results will improve once the weather gets warm and I have an opportunity to get out more.

Thanks for being so honest to do that. But no need. They delivered it to my house. Of course not till 6:00 pm. Normally they deliver between 12 and 2. I figured it is because of them needing a signature. They figure more people will be home from work later. But I was waiting all day for it.

It was dark by the time they delivered. I took 2 shots last night of a basket hanging on our kitchen wall. One at 200mm and one at 500mm. Both wide open and with a flash. I can not believe how good they look. I am hoping to go shoot a few more shots later today. Hoping it warms up some first.

Glad you like it. I can't wait for warmer weather to get out and use this lens. I know there is a learning curve with it for BIF. It will come. Look forward to seeing your photos.

I'm too much of an instant gratification guy, and waiting that long I probably would have crashed the UPS web servers from all my tracking page reloads. :)

Nope, not arriving until Wednesday, which made Monday kind of tough to handle and today, Tuesday, wasn't any better. UPS shipping records show the shipment was rescheduled to tomorrow.

Try not to chew a leg off the delivery person when they finally show up.

Sometimes you don't have a choice. I am self employed for several reasons, one of which is that I like things to happen at the pace I choose for them to happen, but there are plenty of times where you end up waiting for someone else to do their part. That's life. Either you relax and let it flow or your die early of a stress related heart attack.

The new lens is NICE. Absolutely no regrets yet!
