On the trip down to TX, we made 2 stops... the 1st to see
Don Kuykendall in Alabama. We stopped our 1st day for lunch.

The 2nd day, we made an early morning stop in MS for breakfast.
My wife, outside waiting for our special guest!

It was really nice to be able to stop along the way and meet a couple of the
regulars here at Nikonites!

The cloud formation in your last bunch of pics is simply amazing. I wish you had more with less stuff in the foreground. :)

Our visit to Texas was to San Marcos, where my wife was born... when we got off I-10 to head to San Marcos, we entered the town of Luling TX.

ps: The oil wells are right across from Main Street and you can smell the aroma of Petroleum in the air.

Most of this Texas trip was spend with family ... and coupled with mostly rainy overcast skies, pictures suffered some. The day we arrived, we stopped first at the cemetery where Lyn's mother is buried. We visited the grave and then stopped at the office to get some literature for a grave marker. One of our goals is to have a marker ordered before we head back to GA and will involve me trying to get the "family" together. That is another story...

Lyn's youngest brother Ralph lived just up the road so we stopped in and said hello. He joined us for lunch and then we went and checked in to the motel.
We relaxed a bit then went back to Ralph's as the other brother, James (and his wife Dianne) were heading over to throw some dogs and burgers on
the grill. They figured more relaxing after our 2 1/2 day drive..

Day 2 in Texas was spent with family.... My wife was concerned as I was bringing up the Grave Marker today... 2 of the family members did not always see eye to eye, and one supposedly has very little funds. One also can get upset if they are not "in charge" or getting their way. I believed that I could push this through as a "moderator" easier and with less resistance than a family member because I had no baggage in the fray. I had notified all that I would be having the discussion today so they could speak to spouses etc ahead... I made the presentation, all agreed it was time to get it done, only issue now was each families funding. One was all in, one would do what they could to get a full share and one expected to be short but would do the best they could. We did not advertise, but if there were any shortages, we were making up the difference. This was going to be ordered Wednesday before I left period. Making a long story short, 3 were full shares and 1 was a 1/2 ... all were prompt and it was ordered on Wednesday as planned! Love it when a plan comes together!

Back to Photo's... on Day 3, Saturday, before fellowship with the family, we ran into San Marcos to get a few photos around town... first up, near a city park and the San Marcos River...
