Sad loss for you and your family,they where tough men,my father lied about his age to get into the navy at the start of the war,he served on the Russian convoys and was on one of the first UK ships to go in after Hiroshima,no battle injuries but there is every chance his death was related to the bomb but the UK government treated the victims with the same disregard they always have for heroes.

Sorry for your loss. That was a troubling time. My father served in the Korean conflict and wouldn't talk about it.

late reading this Kevin, sorry for your loss mate but he like many others made this world a safer place for us. I only have water at the moment but i will toast him with a little stronger stuff when i get home from work. God bless.
