Ring Lights?

As much as I love Nikons (I wouldn't shoot with anything else), I hate their prices! They're very elitist in their marketing and pricing. Take that little plastic cover, for example, that covers the hot shoe. I've seen them sell for anywhere from $5 to over $10. That's insane for a little bit of plastic! And how about lens hoods....many of them well over $40! Again....plastic. :)

Make your decision from there. :)

I was a Yashica Dealer for many years. We sold a camera called the Yashica Dental-Eye camera. The ring light was built into the lens and the batteries were in what looks like the motor drive. Odd little camera but was fun to play with,

Nikon did something similar with the 200mm f/5.6 Medical Nikkor though it was only a self contained lens and not camera and lens combination. It had an integral ring flash and came with various strength closeup lenses to get varying levels of magnifications. It had an AC unit which provided power for the ring flash.
