I'm assuming you're shooting with a ND filter, right? What value are you using?

Yes, it's an ND8 which I believe translates to a .9 (3 stop). I was really annoyed at myself getting to this spot late in the morning. By 9am the area was in direct sunlight, forcing me to stack my CP on the ND and shooting at f13. Had I been there an hour ealier, I would have been shooting f8 or 9 with just the ND8

Interesting architecture here in Syracuse. This is the Niagra Mohawk building with "Iron Mike" on it. Next time I'll take some more time squaring up on this and focus on the statue.

Old quarry shovel and train

Found these exploring a quarry today. Vantage points were not the best and the sun was against me, but HDR helped with the lighting. I thought the color was interesting also, I didn't enhance it much,

A funny side note from today's shooting,

When I got home and started processing, I noticed what looked like dust or streaks. Particularly upsetting since I had just cleaned my sensor yesterday. Look at the sky in this one and then about a 200% or so crop.

Revisited the Quarry. You know how it goes, you find a new spot and just have to go back to get what you didn't the first time around. Last week I allowed a fence to hold me back. I got up early to catch the right light and find a way to get closer to this area. Wish I had some dramatic clouds, but I'm pleased with a few. I'll post some more of the train in that section also.

Train shot, normal processing vs. single shot HDR.

Stumbled across these track this morning while following a stream (pics of that to follow) at the right time. Shot with the 28 1.8g with a CP.

First is normal proccessing, second is the single shot in photomatix,

Rick, your experience shows in your images...interesting, great PP, and on, and on. I enjoy looking at them. These two are just two more really good ones.

You probably already know that you can replace the sky in your photos, with another that you like better. I am posting this for those that are not aware of that.

The Photoshop method to do that can be found at:

How To Replace The Sky In A Photo With Photoshop This is free.

Even though I purchased his tutorials, I am not trying to convince anyone to buy anything. I hate when that happens.

If one is careful, you can replace the sky in an image almost perfectly, with a another sky that you like better. Pixel peepers will probably find something, but they will have to look *real* careful. I know, this may be seen to some as "cheating". I think it is no different than using photomatix, or other numerous PP techniques. Everyone will not agree on that, of course. I look at photography as art, and enhancement and alterations are just a part of that, in my humble opinion. My preference is the natural looking photo, whatever that is.

I apologize for kinda hijacking your thread...hope I have not offended you.

The locomotive pulling the quarry machinery looks like it's been steam punked. Interesting. I have been enjoying your quarry shots. he turquoise color of the equipment is definitely weird. Neat, but weird. Thanks for sharing them.
