If your talking any sort of long distance 4 of these could work,i used two on my Canons for 3D and one transmitter fired the two cameras,not all that cheap though.

I use the Vello FreeWave Plus remotes. Unlike the Ml-L3 they are RF and can be triggered up to 300 feet away. Frequency is set via internal DIP switches so you can get 4, set them all the same and use a single trigger (i.e. one trigger fires them all simultaneously, which sounds like what you're looking for), or configure them for individual triggers. $60 each. I wish you could buy just add'l receivers, which you can for their flash triggers, but not these. I see that the FreeWave Fusion flash triggers also use the DIP switch system, and these can be used in reverse to trigger the camera (a neat idea), but I don't know if they're compatible.

One thing I like about the FreeWave Plus is that if I set the camera on a constant shutter mode and use the Bulb setting on the remote, it will continuously fire as if I'm holding the shutter button down until I press the button again. I used this with a two camera setup when shooting bluebird babies last year as they flew for the first time. Unfortunately, even though I had the timers between my Sony a6000 and D7100 synchronized (a Nikon trigger will work with the Sony provided you get the proper cable) the Sony doesn't record milliseconds when shooting in burst modes so it was a PITA to synchronize the photos in Lightroom. Still, it can be done - multiple cameras on multiple formats with one trigger.

thanks for the replies. I have a family reunion coming up and was hoping to find a way to fire 4 cameras at
4 different locations around the room. Ml3 might work if cameras in one location. (i can test this at home) vello looks like it might have a solution with their shutterboss ii, you can get additional receivers, not sure the family is worth the cost.

Remember, the ML-L3 is IR and needs to be line of sight, and then to every camera. That's not going to happen, and may not even happen for one camera if you're not close enough.
Realize with the Shutterboss II solution you're paying as much for the extra receiver as you are for the entire FreeWave Plus solution and you'll be left with only a single trigger. If you don't need the additional functionality of the trigger unit (i.e. intervalometer) you'll save yourself some money with the FreeWave units, and wind up with the ability to trigger multiple cameras independently as well.
