She is leading with the shoulder, the subject is smiling, and the eyes are looking out of the frame plus the hearts make a nice pattern. Looks like it was drawn by a photographer to me...hahaha :)

One of my greatest joys now is when taking a photograph is converting to a painting. I never thought I could every draw. I now see scenery, objects, anything differently. It has renewed my interest in photography and given it just a bit of a lift. Go for it. You are gamer than me, as yet not tried portraits.

Thank you Jeff & Dusker...I've put in an order for some water paints...Who knows I might get them for my birthday in a couple of months

I was always a pencil and water color guy...the camera is an afterthought for me...remember I do "art" for a living everyday...designing and sewing up seat covers and doing custom upholstery is a tough artistic endeavor...I am to lazy to draw or paint (at least at this point in time) and the camera is much easier at least for me yet it is still a worthwhile challenge.

Pen, pencil, and paintbrush is one of my wasted talents which is sort of a regret for me. But with photography when I think of themes or composition or portraits I always resort to the old masters of draughtmanship and painting before I get to any of the camera guys. An example...you want to learn what a wide angle can do go look at Brueghel the Elder. After him then you go look at HCB. haha
