Question to bird spotters

Yes, it is a song thrush! Normally it is hidden between the leaves of the tree, so I can only see a dark shadow. But it landed on my lawn once and it definitely was a song thrush, according to the pictures I found on the web.

This little bugger is really loud. I can hear it everywhere in the house, with all doors and windows closed. It is getting a bit annoying...

LOL, our Mockingbirds are the same way, and they can definitely provide an unending source of "racket".

Wiki says your little fellow will sing "February through June", or sometimes "November through July", and for it's weight, has one of the "loudest bird calls" out there. ;)

ENJOY!!!

I thought it was a mockingbird because of the different types/styles of songs although I've never heard a song thrush. You could always try putting an owl near the tree--they make artificial ones which help keep birds further away.

The reviews of artificial owls are very mixed on the web, including reports of other birds sitting on top of the owl's head. This birds sits high in a tree, I don't think it's gonna be bothered by a plastic owl in my garden. It is certainly not bothered by my very much alive cat.

Poor song thrush. They are loud and very repetitive but I've never thought they were irritating. We hand reared one when I was a child, as a squirrel had raided its nest and killed the other chicks and the mother didn't come back. It hung around for a year or so and would sit with my mum when she was gardening waiting for worms.

Sorry lad, and you're probably not going to agree, but you're a bit lucky there. The numbers of these birds are in free fall. Only 20 years ago, these were really common. Not so now

Eh, I'm not really complaining. Just a little perhaps. Actually, I find the song thrush's song quite pleasing, very melodic. Just a tad too loud and a tad too long. :)
