Projects

late at night I tend to ruminate. Tonight I am thinking about projects. Many of you have 365 projects which I envy because that is more discipline than I can muster. But let me tell you about my latest project.
Most of my photos are of flowers; many of which are taken on walks through the neighborhood. A lot of these photos are of pink roses. A very popular flower to grow hereabouts. What to do with all these photos?
then one day an idea was born. I would edit , print, mat and frame the very best of them and offer the prints to anyone who would make a nice donation to the Susan B. Komen Fund.
It is too early to tell wether or not this project will succeed but I have high hopes for it.
I know there are many other projects out there where photographers are giving back to the community. I've heard of projects that where photographers are helping veterans and active duty with free photo shoots etc and even projects for cancer survivors. And many photographers are helping train a new generation of would be photographers.
I think the reason for this is that photographers in general are more empathetic. I put that down to years of carefully studying and observing the world through their viewfinders, but that is just my take.
So here is to projects. They help us hone our craft and may even occasionally improve the world around us. so let's keep up the good work gang while I put my soapbox away for another day.
