Thanks. I did learn a nice trick from our Nikonites friends. I started by using A mode so I could control DOF. But recently read some posts on the site that the D5100 likes faster shutter speeds to get good sharpness. Moved over to S mode and shoot at 250 or above when possible and am seeing a positive improvement. Thanks Nikonite friends for the continued good tips and advice.

I'm also finding with the D5100 we can crank up the ISO a bit higher for more speed and DOF. I used to shoot at 100 most of the time, 200 is my new low point and I'm frequently using 800 with my 70-300 on.

I must say it was cheaper than buying a macro lens. There are places and times a pocket sized camera is better than carrying the DSLR. I hope the S9100 will be just the right fit.
