Posting Photos to weekly Challenge

Hope you all don't think this is a silly question, but how else will I learn. I tried posting a photo to the weekly challenge, but kept getting a message stating the "file is too large'". I assume this refers to my camera setting, so what do I need to change? Nikon D3300. Thanks

You need to resize your photos to 1000 on the long side. That should work.

Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72ppi (Pixels Per Inch)

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.

I routinely post photos as 1280 pixels on the long side. I resize the images as part of my post-processing workflow with RawTherapee.

For a quick resizing option in Windows without tedious loading and saving in a photo editor, just install Windows Powertoys and use the Image Resizer shell extension.

It does not refer to your camera settings. It is the size of your photo which you upload to the forum. Marilynne's and BF Hammer's suggestions on resizing your photos once you have post processed them and are ready to upload them to the forum are spot on.
