Caught an NS stack train departing Columbia, SC this morning after church. Maybe if I regularly railfanned with a shirt and tie, I could enter areas more easily. <g>

NS 708 is a RP-E4C Slug, rebuilt from a GP-38. This locomotive is a workhorse, having first been purchased by the Penn Central in 1971!

I stumbled across this fine station the other day. It is an old C&O station & I'm sure glad the folks in Canal Winchester OH decided it was worth preserving.

Nice find and nice photos too Chuck. I like the one into the operator's bay where the train order signal levers are in silhouette.

Thank you Sandpatch. I was hoping for a better shot of the levers that operate the semaphores. I had a devil of a time trying to get them in focus. My camera kept focusing on the glass I was shooting through. I resorted to manual focus, but my Fuji XE-1 isn't good at focus peaking & neither am I. Blind in one eye & can't see out of the other. :shame:

I think it got lost. I don't usually see these engines around my part of the world. Ha!

It's nice to see foreign power. Those big black engines are all we see in my neck of the woods.

Glad you like them. I love black and whites as well. A lot of those were taken back when all I had was a point and shoot. Except the Strasburg photos. Those were done 2 years ago with my current DSLR. Thanks again.
