Beautifully restored ACL depot at Myrtle Beach, SC. Located at the end of a long (and mostly inactive) branchline.

had to wait on a long slow train (richland, wa,) then to hear the clunk/clank as it stopped. So close and yet so far from an appointment on the other side of the crossing.1-DSC_3701-001.jpg

Well, it looks like Microsoft Edge plays well with vBulletin. :D One more test, with a CofG boxcar in Selma, AL in 1985, over 20 Years after the CofG was bought by the Southern Railway.

Well, I went out train huntin'. Someone told me people hang out in Berea to watch trains like a cult. So, I figured it would be a good spot to catch a few train photos. After about an hour, the only thing that came by was a repair crew. That's not a good sign. I was just about to leave when I saw a faint light coming from the north. These photos are in chronological order. It took 10 minutes for that faint light to reach me at full speed. Those lights are bright.

Been to Berea, OH only once in September '97 and it was a fine spot. I think BE Tower was closed that year, but it's to see in your photos that it still stands.

October 1990, Elmore, AL. Amtrak's short-lived Gulf Breeze crosses Mortar Creek north of Montgomery on the former L&N main. [Nikon N2020, Kodachrome]

I sure do miss seeing cabooses on the end of trains. Glad some are being saved.

This one is in the old Erie Lacawanna yard in Marion Ohio. I believe it is still being used occasionally on locals.
