Here's another old steam era signal for you you Sandpatch. I took this 6 years ago in Kavanaugh KY. CSX coal train gliding downhill toward the Ohio River.

C&O cantilever bridges even appear in the heart of Dixie. I shot this one in Montgomery, AL in 1990.

Nice shots Chuck and kinda sad too. I was born too late to have seen a PRR or NYC train and been able to recall it, but I remember the PC and despite its crumbling financial state, had a fascination to me that remains today

I remember the New York Central as a boy. We vacationed near Vermilion Ohio & my dad used to walk with me to the NYC New York-Chicago line where we'd watch the trains highball through. If the day was cool we'd walk a couple more miles further to the NKP line. No pictures from that time, but fond memories & pictures in my mind. I didn't start chasing trains until the PC era started.

Here is one from 2010 in Tennessee Illinois. A grain train with vintage signals. I'm not sure, but I think this may be part of the old Rock Island line.

pasco, wa. The 2 engines would go into the yard and pull out some cars and pull them up a hump then release the cars one or two at a time to roll back into the yard.DSC_3496.jpg

I didn't begin to shoot trains until 1975 or so. This FM was captured at the MILW's yard in Bensenville, IL in February '76.
