RIP Knox & Kane

Neat little switcher. I'll bet it's fun to watch with those siderods moving about.

The Knox & Kane used to run there, right? What's up with the line now?

I really have no idea what became of the Knox & Kane. When I was there it was dead & just sitting like an open air museum display. Your question sparked my curiosity so I did a bit of searching. Here is a link to a youtube video that tells the sad story.

My wife & I were able to walk out on the bridge in the early eighty's. No tracks were on the bridge deck at that time. Neither of us are fans of heights so our walk really had our hearts racing. Back in 2002 when I stopped in Knox to snap some pictures I sure wish I'd have spent more time & clicked off more frames.

I remember the tornado too. We went through there a week after & saw lots of damage. At that time I didn't know the Kinzua bridge had come down. It's a real shame, but old Mother Nature can be a cruel mistress. Arsonists were the final nail in the Knox & Kane's coffin. So sad. :upset:
