time travel is neat, it only took an hour and 6 bucks to travel back a 100 years. :) no need for refreshment during time travel

the trolley can do a curve but it's not smooth. :)

Interesting turnout -- there's no straight route; both are diverging routes. Ah yes, the short radius curve possibilities are limitless in the street car business. Great shots all Ron -- thank you!

OK all you train guys. Is there a guide to tell you where trains are going to be and at what time?

Nope Don, not yet at least. Depending on the line, freight trains can be fairly predictable and devoted fans have a good notion of what might be seen. Many of us carry radio scanners so that we can listen to and better our odds of seeing something. Prior to vacations I also study my railroad traffic density maps to see where the busiest lines are.

New technology gets close to answering the question. Some fans now carry laptop computers and are able to tap in to railroad radio data transmissions and see exactly what the Dispatcher sees in real time! I have no experience with this sort of thing and from what I gather, it takes some knowhow to set up.

Okay Krs 2007 -- you have to spill the beans now. We have two votes for Omaha. Where is the stadium?

Yep, Omaha, NE. Was up there for a little league tournament and the college World Series. Wow, what a photographers dream, I want to go back when we don't have baseball taking up so much time. From trains to the zoo, I cold spend days up there. And if I had time I would have a lot of cool barn pictures.

They had a rail yard that I wanted to closer to, didn't work out and had to settle for the above picture.

It's called ATCS. I use it for the Rochelle area all the time at home and on my laptop. It only shows you train movement however it can not at this time tell you what train (number) of if is freight or passenger.

It also is only available for certain areas. Just because you're near train tracks does not mean a "Map" or "A Feed" is available for that area. You need both. Some location you only have one and it will not work.

Here is a sample I found on Youtube. Some maps like this one have a hot links for audio feed.

ATCS & Scanner talk - YouTube

Not a user friendly program it is quite intense to set up

If you would like to know more about the ATCS Yahoo group and software please contact me in a private message so we don't plug up this thread.
