Those are great Chicago shots Axeman and from an angle which, well, would land us in the morgue if taken on foot! Yep, I greatly miss the F's and E's too. I could hear them throttle up as they left the suburban stop near our home. Railroading is too quiet these days with muffled engines and welded rail.

Here is by far my favorite locomotive running. I saw her sister locomotive 759 which was the first steam locomotive I saw. Here Nickel Plate Road 765 running excursion in Ohio.

Great shot! Yep, the 765 is one of the Grandaddies of fantrip steam. It's "modern" (built 1944) and of the perfect size for such assignments. My wife and I chased and rode N&W 611 and 1218 all over the southeast. We're glad that they're again preserved in Roanoke, but greatly miss seeing them on the road.

With the winter seaon in mind, I thought I'd post this one taken in Knoxville, TN of an Alco C-420 taken almost exactly 35 years ago to the day. L&N Alcos were everywhere in the region back then. Taken with my Nikkormat FTn and K-64. Sorry about the poor scan quality. It's a good thing that I didn't own a car back then, else I'd have never graduated.

The PRR N5 is at the Caboose Motel at Strasburg? We stayed in the LV hack. It's a neat place to lodge -- the kid loved it too.

Shot some rail photos today. This one was taken from the same spot as one of the shots I posted previously,but at 160mm. This is the shot that I wanted in the first place, but my 55-20mm was in my truck instead of with me! Nice to have a second chance.

This one is in Camp Hill PA. It is owned by a Storage Company. Their office in an old RR building and is still along the active NS tracks.

Took these two too. It took nearly two hours from the same train to appear -- he couldn't get his brakes pumped up, so someone had to walk the entire train to find what was wrong. Second shot was just foolin' around, handheld at 1/30 Sec.

be glad we do not have smell 0 vision. Rabanco runs a huge landfill operation, waste is hauled in by train then hauled by truck to the landfill.

What is the ground cover like out there nikonpup? From the photos it looks barren, but with some grass maybe? I don't see many trees, which can be the bane of eastern rail photographers.
