These are a few train shots from a re-enactment event I attended this weekend - challenging weather with rain, flat lighting and occasional sunshine - a normal day of UK weather for Sep!

Love the old steam engines when huffing and puffing. Love your photos, you must have them done with extra starch (crisp and clean).

Thanks Nikonpup,

It was a fun couple of days despite the weather and the old steam trains rumbling in and out of the station complimented the re-enactors very well and added to a nostalgic theme.

I am delighted with the D500 / 24-120mm combo for general shooting and the images are as you say nice and clear / sharp.

Bubbles & CoolWhip

I was out the other day at the Big Four Depot in Galion & met two new friends. Bubbles the Road Slug & CoolWhip the GP40-2. Bubbles was very quiet, but CoolWhip burbled contently. Kind of cool that the crew named their locomotives.

:) In a Trains Magazine from long ago I recall a photo of the cab side of a PC locomotive where the crew had carefully stenciled silhouettes of cars, dogs and whatever else they'd hit with their unit. The area under the window looked like a WW-II fighter plane.

More good shots. Galion looks like a nice spot with open views and good light. I wonder if there's a sidewalk up on the highway bridge?

In 2 visits to the Galion Big Four Depot I've been lucky to catch 2 trains each time. This line doesn't see as much traffic as some of the others I frequent.

I've never driven across the bridge I'm always under it. Next time I'll have to check it out & see if there's a sidewalk to shoot from. I've been through Galion many times, but I never knew about that great station until I read about it on the ARRC blog a couple of months ago.
