Post your spiders

I've never dealt with noise levels before, and it's not showing up much at all while post processing raw files. After seeing and reading your reply, I tried to lower the noise a few times and here was my latest at nearly 100% luminescence noise reduction.

I occasionally forget the noise too. ;)

The more you manipulate the image, the more noise appears but since we're mostly working on an image "fit to screen", that noise is almost invisible. It's only when checking the 100% that it shows clearly.

Lowering noise can affect the image so you have to find the middle road.

It's still pretty noisy. If I import that JPEG and lower the noise to about 50, it is completely gone.

Re: spiders

Then I hit the jackpot with this giant. It is a Banded Argiope. The large rear section was slightly smaller than my thumb width. When I first saw this one hidden in the bushes I thought it was a toy. I quickly through my 40mm macro on and crawled into the bushes hoping I would not scare it away. This spider was big enough that I could not get too close with the macro because it filled the viewfinder. No cropping on these images.

I then went around to the other side once I was sure I hadn't missed an opportunity on this monster only to be rewarded with an even more beautiful sight.

Bottom side. Note the fangs. They were slightly thinner than a toothpick.

ICK! I wish I knew why some uploads looks so good and others fall apart as these two did.

Some really excellent work George

Two of my regulars were busy weaving a new web during my shooting hours which was like winning the lottery. I've shot loads and been busy selecting and processing all day. If every day was like this, it'd feel like a job. ;)

Found a Bold Jumper (Phidippus audax) on the deck today. Looks like she'd been doing a little "Big Game Hunting". This caterpillar was easily 5X her size! She was so focused on it that she didn't mind me moving all around her taking photographs.
