I went on to the back porch tonight to see if my little buddy from the previous nights was out hunting in his usual spot. Indeed he was, however, he had a little friend tonight. This one was hanging out just inside of the porch light. It is much smaller than the other spider.

My resident spider. Actually there are two of them. This one in the back yard living in the Basil Bussh, and another one in the front yard living in the Jasmin tree.

Not done many spider shots.
Found this guy hiding under the door handle outside on the patio doors. No idea what kind it is. Strange in that it doesn't seem to mind having its legs above its head.

A little leaper that jumped on my hand -- had a heck of a time getting a shot as it wouldn't stop zipping about

It's one lucky spider, to have found you instead of me! Lol Any spider that gets on me has a much much shorter life expectancy! I have that uncontrollable need to kill the poor things when they get on me! Of course though they are at the top of the hit list of things to kill when on me, and bug is much much safer no getting on me! Lol :)

I may not squeal like a girl, but that's only because I'm too busy being in a panic to kill whatever it is that got on me! Lol :)

Cool shot buddy! I envy those of you without the limits I have! They are sorta cute little bugger's unsquished! Lol :)

I like to look at them, but I don't want them on me or even too close to me! I can take photos of spiders as long as I'm the one getting closer, not it getting closer to me! Lol:p

I'm with you Bill. Cause "I don't like spiders and snakes"

The lynx snagged a bee out of the air so fast it startled me. Gave it a quick spin, ducked back under a leaf, and went for the jugular

OK I finally figured out the name of the spider in my favorite spider shot! Woohoo! Lol :D

It's a Venusta Orchard spider! These both are! The first one is male, and the second one is female! :)

As small as I have seen, barely 1/16" across, scuttling about on my drawing board. I had a heck of a time just tracking it in the viewfinder.

Wow you did awesome! I had a heck of a time getting a spider that small, and I never did get all of it's legs into some simblence of focus. Fuzzed out half it's legs. Lol :)

Wow! Way to go! You Rock my friend! :D

Lol This is wild! I'm liking it! Way to go! Lol :D

I very much like what went wrong but it's too bad I have no idea how I could ever replicate it.

When I shot this one I forgot to change ISO which is why I ended with the slow shutter speed. The spider was inside the web and during the shot, a breeze hit it and the light reflecting from the web shattered into my diopter. At places it stretched into those multicolored shapes.

Funnel Web Spider. These guys are like something out of a sci-fi movie.

PS. Heading off on Tuesday for a 10-day boating trip through the Vosges Mountains with lots of forest. Goodness knows what I shall find there. Will let you know in a couple of weeks. :D

Beautiful Argiope B I came across today. If she is still there tomorrow I may catch her and try to find her a mate as there don't seem to be any males nearby.

Lo and behold, I finally have discovered the trick to pull decent quality out of my diopter at the higher magnifications. T'was embarrassingly simple; go crazy with the depth.
