I think you nailed it. My book also shows a "pale" Florida strain. Which this appears to be.

Well he does have full adult plumage, actually pretty nice color.. to me it just looks like he has a very slender build , dunno you may be right - There's one near me that returns each year to the same gas station , stocky like a fire plug he is.
