Thanks. It was really a lucky shot, because I wasn't planning on shooting the moon. It was like, "hey, look at that big moon", and I just grabbed my stuff and took about 10 pics. I didn't even have the tripod with me. That's why I didn't even try and shoot it at 300mm.

All of mine were handheld... usually stop on the way to work, step out of the truck and shoot... I use spot metering (gets the speed up) and also often do a - exp adjustment to preserve detail.

I can't do hand held at 300mm on the Sigma as it has no stabilization built in. Even on a tripod I have to use a remote at that focal length.

We've been having lousy evenings for moon shots lately, but tonight it was fairly clear -- unfortunately for the image, I had three glasses of an excellent Russian River beer this evening. . .
